Pharmaceutical companies claim to have created a substance that is both concentrated and powerful in its effect.  This substance comes in a form of a Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil.  Many companies are trying to take advantage of research stating the benefits of fish oil to personal health.  Companies are springing up claiming to harvest fish in pristine, clean waters clear of toxins normally found in average, uncontrolled fish. This all just one big scam. To get you to buy there products, dont fall for it.  I have been in this business for the last 15 years seen it all. I have seen this pharmaceutical Grade fish oil scam used many times .

The truth of the matter is that this is a clever marketing trick created by manufacturing companies to entice you into buying their product.  How can you have a ‘pharmaceutical grade’ on a substance that the US FDA does not even have particular regulatory guidelines on?  You can not but what you can find is a standard provided by the Council for Responsible Nutrition on fish oils for manufacturing companies.  These are non-binding, voluntary standards and companies can not be fined or paid accountable for a low quality grade production of fish oil.

Another international organization for testing and providing guidelines for fish oil is the International Fish Oil Standards organization.  For a fee companies can bring their fish oil product to them and have it tested by this organization’s regulatory standards.  If the product passes the guidelines provided the company gives it a ‘star’ ranking.  Many companies take this star and brand their product as pharmaceutical grade fish oil, and this is not the case.

In order for a product to be classified as ‘pharmaceutical grade’ it must pass the standards of the US Pharmacopoeia and the US Pharmacopoeia has yet to create a Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil.  This is because the USP has yet to standardize regulations of fish oil purity.

When purchasing a product that contains fish oil, be weary of products that claim to be a Pharmaceutical Grade.  When a product states that is a pharmaceutical grade it promises that it has passed a standard provided by the USP and we have established that these standards do not yet exist.

Nevertheless, fish oil and their subsequent benefits are essential to a better and healthier body.  There are quality fish oil products on the market for you to choose from.  When choosing a fish oil, only go for the best type of product but don’t let some salesman try to sell you on the fact that its pharmaceutical grade fish oil, couse hes lying to you, and if hes lying about that what else is he lying about?
