Taking fish oil on a daily basis combined with regular exercise such as a moderate walking for 45 minutes at least three times a week is proven to help people that are trying to lose weight

Usually when people begin a diet they first cut out the foods they think are unhealthy. In order to reduce caloric intake this can help, but in order to reduce body fat you have to supply your body with the right kind of fats.  There are essential fats that your body needs in order to lose weight.  The body is able to transform carbohydrates and proteins into saturated and mono saturated fatty acids but the body can not produce the necessary polyunsaturated fats (PUFAS) to facilitate the reduction of body mass.  These essential fatty acids, or omega 3 fatty acids are PUFAS found in high concentrations in fish oil derived from oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, and tuna.

The proof goes of the correlation of fish oil and weight loss in a recent study.  A study conducted divided its participants into four groups categorized as, individuals taking fish oil along with regular exercise, individuals who took fish oil with no regular exercise regime in place, individuals who where asked to take sunflower oil with exercise and finally, individuals who took sunflower but implemented no exercise regime.  In summary these were the four groups, Fish oil + Exercise, Fish Oil Alone, Sunflower + Exercise, and Sunflower Oil Alone.  The group that lost the most amount of fat mass were the participants taking omega 3 fish oil on a daily basis in combination with a regular exercise routine.  These subjects took 6 grams of fish oil daily and walked for 45 minutes, three times a week.  These individuals lost a total of 3.3 pounds at the end of the trial (12 weeks) whereas the other groups lost little to no weight at all.  Keep in mind that diet had not been altered at all, except for the supplements when applicable.

So how can you lose weight without changing your diet?  Well, remember the participants were exercising, so fish oil is not the magic potion for weight loss but it is a great helping hand, it  helps increase the flexibility of blood vessel walls which in turn increases the blood flow to muscles during exercise.  This in turn helps burn more fat by increasing the lipolytic stimuli to fat cells.  Another aide that omega 3 fish oil offers to weight loss is the impact it has on appetite control. It helps you control your appetite, and you lessen your junk food cravings you will have a lower caloric intake leading to further weight loss.

Fish oil is a great benefit for people of all ages.  If you want to get healthier in general omega 3 will not only help your weight loss but it help your overall health.
