There is a plethora of research out there that has been undertaken to assess the relationship between fish oil and cardiovascular disease.  All of the research state that omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil help in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, and if fish oil does not prevent cardiovascular disease, it will definitely reduce its risk.  Research has shown that omega 3 fish oil lowers triglyceride levels, it lowers blood pressure, helps prevent blood clotting, and reduces the danger of arrhythmias in the heart which increase the danger of cardiac arrest.  Fish oil has been proven to reduce triglyceride levels, and this in itself helps in the prevention of cardiovascular disease because triglyceride increases the threat of heart attacks.

Early research has begun as well on the effects of fish oil and its potential to lower serum cholesterol in the human body, but research in this area is still in its infancy.  But even in these early trials researchers have begun to indicate that fish oil can increase the level of good cholesterol (HDL) in the body while lowering the bad cholesterol (LDL).  This is important to overall heart health, because it eases the pressure on the heart.

Artery blockage is a cause of heart attacks and fish oil helps in working as a blood thinner in order to prevent blood from clotting and causing these blockages.  Fish oil facilitates the movement of blood through the veins so they do not clot as well as stick to the artery walls.
It is true that omega 3  can be received from food sources but no matter how hard you try, you will be unable to get the full effect of fish oil nutrients.  The long-chained fatty acids of DHA and EPA are only found in fish oil.  This has lead to an outstanding popularity of fish oil not only among the masses but with medical professionals as well.

You can get  omega 3 from eating fish three times a week, but you have to be careful with the fish you eat because many fish have high levels of mercury in them and this can be harmful to your health.  Some people simply do not like to eat fish.  In this case an omega 3 supplement such as fish oil is highly recommended.

The benefits of taking fish oil are numerous and you can not go wrong with taking them because they can not hurt you.  Fish oil strengthens your cardiovascular system as well as keeping in check all of the precursors to bad heart health such as high cholesterol and high inflammation in the body.

Considering the high paced world we live in, who can afford not to take an omega 3 dietary supplement?  Heart disease is a leading killer in the Western world.  Fish oil can help you safeguard your health in a world where you just do not have time to be sick, and have too much too live for.
